| Bernstein was in Vancouver for a second time as “Visiting Foreign Artist in Residence”, for a fortnight of workshops, readings and talks with the then quite young and energetic KSW crowd. It was during this week (on June 4th) that the Tiananmen Square massacre occurred. Colin Smith recalls being at the Patricia (a Eastside pub) with a large group of people, including Bernstein, after one of the evening workshops when the tank-standoff standoff footage appeared on one of the silent televisions in the bar. |
